Ummaly is a halal lifestyle platform designed to help Muslims make confident, informed decisions in their daily lives. It includes an AI-powered barcode scanner for checking halal status of food products, a restaurant and mosque finder, prayer times with tracking, a Qibla compass, Zakat calculator, and Islamic educational content covering the Five Pillars of Islam.
No. Ummaly is NOT a halal certification body, halal authority, or religious advisory service. We do not issue halal certificates. All halal information provided through the platform is for guidance purposes only. You should always check product packaging for recognised halal certification logos and consult qualified scholars for definitive rulings.
The halal scanner uses a multi-tier AI verification pipeline. When you scan a product barcode, we look up the ingredients from trusted databases (Open Food Facts, USDA FDC) and run them through our trained 354M-parameter machine learning model, rule-based analysis, and cross-referencing with halal databases. The result is a confidence-scored assessment — not a certification. We recommend always reading the label yourself and checking for official halal certification.
Ummaly offers a generous free tier. Registered users get 5 barcode scans per month (then 1 per day), 3 mosque searches per month, full access to prayer times, Qibla compass, and Islamic educational content. Premium subscribers get unlimited scans, unlimited mosque searches, full scan history, favourites, and premium Qibla compass skins. Premium is available for £4.99/month or £45.00/year.
We strive for high accuracy, but no automated system is perfect. Our AI models are probabilistic — they provide confidence scores, not certainties. Product formulations can change without notice, databases may contain errors, and AI models may misclassify uncommon ingredients. Cross-contamination and manufacturing processes cannot be detected from ingredient lists alone. Always treat Ummaly results as one helpful data point, not a definitive ruling.
Yes! The Ummaly website provides access to information about our platform, features, and content. The barcode scanning feature is currently available exclusively on our mobile app (iOS and Android), as it requires camera access for scanning physical products. You can download the app from the App Store or Google Play.
You can delete your account from within the mobile app by going to Profile > Settings > Delete Account. This will permanently remove your account data, scan history, and favourites. If you have an active premium subscription, please cancel it through your App Store or Play Store settings first. You can also request account deletion by emailing privacy@ummaly.com.
If you encounter a bug, incorrect halal assessment, or any other issue, please email us at support@ummaly.com with as much detail as possible (including screenshots, the product barcode, and your device type). For incorrect halal assessments, you can also use the in-app flagging feature to report products directly — this helps us improve our analysis for everyone.
Important: Ummaly is a guidance tool, not a halal certification body. All halal assessments are provided for informational purposes only. Always verify halal status through official certification bodies and consult qualified scholars for definitive rulings.
